My Friend's Wedding

On 23rd October 2013, i was invited to a Friend's wedding. His name is Ramesh Shanbhague and he is tying the knot with his own caste girl named Amruta, and with his parent;'s consent both of them did a perfect arranged marraige. It was very nice to see all the rituals at the wedding for the first time. The marriage ceremony lasted for 4 hours.
It was indeed a wonderful and a very knowledge intensive wedding ceremony. I took ample interest in watching and noting down the 'rasams', rituals that were conducted by the three priests who were present there, and were conducting the ceremony.
The dulhe raja - Ramesh was as usual looking very smart and dashing in his Sherwani and pagdi - the off white, embroidaried dress, and the dulhan - Amruta was no less, and equally beautiful. The couple was just made for each other.
The different rutials like pheras - Bride and the Groom taking 7 circles around the fire God, where in each circle they take some intensly deep meaning promises of keeping up the marriage life long and also for 7 births. Then it was time to put the mangal sutra and the sindoor to bride. Later came the Kanya-daan, by the brides Father and Mother, kanyadaan means, Handing over thier daughter to her hasband, and saying that he is now whole and sole responsible for her good or bad. Later came Saptapada - walking for 7 steps with each other, and then Snake pooja. In every puja, the bride and groom took ample interest and were performing all the rituals as they were been told. Ramesh was taking good amount of interest and initiative , and proactivily doing the pujas. Later on we all met him on the stage. Ramesh was dressed in a fantastic suit.
Then we proceeded on to have Lunch. Since it was a morning wedding, it all started at 10:AM and ended at 1:00 PM. We had a wonderful cooked pure indian, maharashrian lunch, with sitafal basondi, chaas and the icecream being the most delicous dishes.
We all enjoyed the wedding and we all pray God to shower all his choicest blesings over the couple.
